Former Washboard Coin Laudry & Dry Cleaning

Site information indicates that a Village Laundry occupied the location in 1968, 1973, and 1978.  The former Washboard Coin Laundry and Dry-cleaning (Washboard Laundry) occupied the site from approximately 1983 to 1988.    According to the Remediation Work Plan (RWP), tetrachloroethene (PCE) was used as the dry-cleaning solvent in a self contained dry-cleaning machine at the site for approximately 30 years.  It is reported that the PCE was stored in a 100-gallon above ground storage tank (AST) which was located inside the building near the southwest corner. PCE was delivered weekly to the AST.  It is suspected that PCE releases may have occurred incidentally during the weekly PCE delivery.  The dry-cleaning operations are reported to have ceased at the site in1999.
